Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition – NHS
The NHS Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit of “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital provides specialized care for children and adolescents with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas, as well as nutrition-related disorders. The department operates within the National Health System and works closely with the laboratories, the surgical clinic and the hospital’s specialized units for the holistic management of complex pediatric gastroenterology cases.
Diagnostic Endoscopy
Gastroscopy, colonoscopy and ileoscopy in children of all ages under sedation.
Hepatological Monitoring
Assessment and monitoring of children with chronic liver disease, cholestatic hepatopathy, and autoimmune hepatitis.
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Diseases Diagnosis and treatment of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and non-classifiable inflammatory bowel disease (IBDU).
Celiac Disease Malabsorption;
Serological and histological testing, dietary management, and long-term monitoring.
Clinical Nutrition
Enteral and parenteral nutrition for children with chronic conditions, short bowel syndrome, and eating disorders
Pancreatology
Management of acuteand chronic pancreatitis, cystic pancreatic diseases.

Staff
The unit is staffed by specialized NHS pediatric gastroenterologists, nursing staff trained in endoscopy and clinical nutrition, as well as a dietitian specialized in pediatric conditions.
