Medical Service Address

The Medical Services Department is

the central scientific and administrative pillar coordinating the medical work of the Children's Hospital "Agia Sofia". It is responsible for the smooth operation of the Clinics and Departments, ensuring the quality and safety of the provided healthcare services, as well as implementing national and European legislation governing hospital care.

Its responsibilities include

the scientific coordination of medical activities, oversight of the education and continuous training of medical personnel, promotion of research and innovation, and participation in the strategic development planning of the Hospital.

Hospital Infections Committee (NIC)

The Hospital Infection Control Committee is the Hospital’s official body responsible for the prevention, surveillance, and control of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance.

The Committee organizes and monitors infection surveillance programs, develops and updates prevention and management protocols, trains staff on hand hygiene and the proper use of antimicrobials, and works with the competent national authorities to implement national action plans.

The Infection Surveillance Nursing Team (NEL) serves as the operational arm of the Committee and is responsible for the daily implementation of surveillance and control programs.

Scientific Council

The Scientific Council is the Hospital’s highest scientific advisory body. Its mission is to ensure the scientific adequacy and quality of the services provided, promote medical education and research, and submit recommendations to the Administration on matters of organization, development, and scientific policy.

Its responsibilities include evaluating scientific activities, providing opinions on matters of ethics and clinical practice, and supporting the continuous improvement of the healthcare services provided.
