The Central Sterilization Unit of “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital is one of the most vital links in the chain of providing safe and high-quality healthcare services. Its mission is to ensure the proper cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and distribution of all medical devices and surgical instruments used in the Hospital’s clinical departments and operating rooms.
Its operation is based on strict international quality and safety standards, using modern equipment. The specialized nursing staff of the Central Sterilization Unit ensure on a daily basis that all procedures are carried out in accordance with the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745), as well as the guidelines of the World Health Organization.
With the aim of preventing infections and improving the quality of care, the Central Sterilization Unit is a key partner of the medical and nursing staff, ensuring that every child hospitalized at “Agia Sofia” receives the best possible and safest care.
