The specialty

The “General Nursing Assistant” is a healthcare professional who, by applying the principles of nursing science, provides healthcare services and supports nurses in their work within Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Healthcare structures and organizations.

The aim of the specialty is to equip trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills so that they are able to apply appropriate procedures and workplace health and safety rules, manage the required materials and equipment, and support nurses in the provision of basic nursing care.

The “General Nursing Assistant” collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, communicates with patients in the community or hospital setting, and performs procedures and techniques included in the care plan under the supervision of a nurse. In addition, they participate in the medical and nursing team responsible for managing emergency situations and providing first aid, in accordance with international standards and applicable protocols.

Their work includes a wide range of activities carried out in accordance with the applicable institutional framework, ethical principles and nursing professional standards, as well as the organization’s administrative structure.

Duration of studies
Five semesters — the first four (A, B, C, D) consist of theoretical and laboratory training, while the fifth includes 960 hours of practical training at the institution affiliated with the respective S.A.E.K.

Vocational Training Certificate (VEK), granting the right to participate in certification examinations for obtaining a Level 5 Diploma from EOPPEP.
