Pediatric Physiotherapy Department
The Pediatric Physiotherapy Department of “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital has been in continuous operation since 1962 and functions as an interdisciplinary department providing physiotherapy care to both inpatients and outpatients.
Physiotherapy services are provided to newborns, infants, children, and adolescents from all hospital clinics and units, with the aim of improving functional ability, respiratory function, and motor development.

Clinical Services – Services Provided
- Physiotherapy care for inpatients across all hospital clinics and units
- Respiratory and motor rehabilitation according to the individual treatment plan
- Participation in the long-term follow-up of newborns who were hospitalized in the Premature Infant Units
- Collaboration with the Neuromuscular Disorders Unit for outpatient care
- Participation in the assessment team of the Cystic Fibrosis outpatient clinics
- Participation in the multidisciplinary team monitoring patients with hemophilia
- Physiotherapy assessment and implementation of individualized treatment programs based on each child’s needs

Educational Activities
The Department actively participates in the education and training of Physiotherapy students. During each four-month training period, two students receive both theoretical and practical instruction.
