Cardiology Clinic
Central Building (3rd Floor)
The Cardiology Department of "Agia Sofia" Children's Hospital provides comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for children with congenital and acquired heart diseases. It serves as a referral center, catering to children from across Greece and offering specialized services to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents.

It works closely with the Pediatric Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery Clinic, the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU), and the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs). At the same time, it provides cardiology coverage for the "P. & A. Kyriakou" Children's Hospital.
Clinical Services
- Hospitalization of children with congenital and acquired heart diseases
- Follow-up of children after cardiac surgery
- Diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Echocardiographic assessment (transthoracic, transesophageal, stress echocardiography)
- Monitoring of arrhythmias and pacemaker function
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing
- Consultation services for all Hospital departments
- Participation in the on-call rota on alternate days with “P. & A. Kyriakou” Children’s Hospital

Cardiology Department
Children with congenital and acquired heart diseases, as well as postoperative cases, are hospitalised in the Department. It is staffed by experienced nursing personnel.
Echocardiography Department
It has three laboratories for transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress echocardiography examinations. It is staffed by Paediatric Cardiologists and Nurses.
Arrhythmia & Exercise Testing Department
Rhythm and blood pressure Holter monitoring laboratories (ABPM), implantable loop recorders, and an exercise testing laboratory for standard and cardiopulmonary exercise tests.

Haemodynamic Laboratory
Diagnostic and therapeutic catheterisations are performed.
- Closure of atrial/ventricular septal defects & patent ductus arteriosus
- Angioplasties & valve implantation (Melody)
- Pacemaker implantation & pericardiocentesis
Outpatient Clinics
- Regular: Monday to Thursday, by appointment
- Neuromuscular diseases: Every Wednesday
- Afternoon clinics: Twice a week
Emergency Cases
During on-call duty, children with urgent cardiology problems are examined, following assessment by a Paediatrician.
