The main purpose of the Public Health Inspector – Public Health Specialist within the hospital is to protect and promote Public Health through the implementation of health legislation. The position is part of the Medical Service.

Duties – Responsibilities
- Health and hygiene inspections of all Hospital areas: inpatient departments, units, operating theatres, outpatient clinics, Emergency Department, laboratories, common areas, kitchens, dining area, food storage facilities, outdoor areas, workshops, sterilization facilities, etc.
- Health and hygiene inspection of food at all stages: receipt, transportation, storage and distribution.
- Management of Hospital Waste (municipal, infectious, toxic, radioactive, recyclable waste, etc.).
- Monitoring of occupational health and safety conditions.
- Water and food quality control through microbiological and chemical testing.
- Pest and rodent control.
- Participation in the Hospital Infection Control Committee.
- Inspection of health certificates for personnel working in areas subject to health regulations (Kitchens, Milk Preparation Unit, Canteens and General Workers).
- Inspection of any source of unsanitary conditions.
- Monitoring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations by all employees.
- Collection and recording of statistical data.
- Participation in Hospital committees concerning Public Health and environmental protection.
- Cooperation with Health Authorities, the central services of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Directorate of Public Health, etc.
- Participation in the organization and implementation of public health programs for the management of emergency health situations.
